A crisis may be defined as: Home fire or weather related disasters such as floods or storms Main breadwinner out of work due to job layoff, injury, or illness Families caught up in generations of poverty due to minimal education and illiteracy Disabled and elderly people who cannot make ends meet on low, fixed incomes Single parents trying to raise small children alone Individuals who are under employed raising families on or barely above minimum wage Seasonal workers who cannot get work during the cold weather months Individuals who are transient, homeless, or stranded. Please contribute if you can

Please contribute if possible. Feed-A-Child Yancey County was founded in the Fall of 2007 by Robert and Glenda Wyatt to provide healthy snacks for kids who need food over the weekends. Volunteers pack and deliver the snacks to the schools that have identified children in need. The schools send the bags home with the children on Fridays.

ATRC is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency and has 3 Professional Association for Therapeutic Horsemanship Certified instructors. Additionally, physical, occupational, speech and mental health therapists are often involved, either hands on or acting as consultants. Our Mission Appalachian Therapeutic Riding Center provides therapeutic horseback riding and non-mounted individualized programs for people with physical, cognitive and/or emotional challenges in a safe, structured environment.
