DESCRIPTION: \nWe gather each Sunday at 11:00 am for worship by singing hym
ns\, hearing readings from the bible\, praying together and a celebration
of Holy Communion. Communion is the spiritual bread our bodies need to liv
 e. All are invited to join us at the Lord's table to be fed by his heavenl
y food\, There are no strangers in God’s house\, and if you choose to wors
hip with us\, we would be honored by your presence.\nIntroduction\nThough
the word trinity is not found in the scriptures\, today’s second reading i
ncludes the apostolic greeting that begins the liturgy: The grace of our L
ord Jesus Christ\, the love of God\, and the communion of the Holy Spirit
be with you all. In the gospel Jesus sends his disciples forth to baptize
in the name of the Father\, and the Son\, and the Holy Spirit. More than a
doctrine\, the Trinity expresses the heart of our faith: we have experien
ced the God of creation made known in Jesus Christ and with us always thro
ugh the Holy Spirit. We celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity in word
and sacrament\, as we profess the creed\, and as we are sent into the worl
d to bear witness to our faith.\nPrayer of the Day\nAlmighty Creator and e
ver-living God: we worship your glory\, eternal Three-in-One\, and we prai
se your power\, majestic One-in-Three. Keep us steadfast in this faith\, d
efend us in all adversity\, and bring us at last into your presence\, wher
e you live in endless joy and love\, Father\, Son\, and Holy Spirit\, one
God\, now and forever.\nAmen.\nFirst Reading: \nGenesis 1:1—2:4a At the be
ginning of time\, God the Creator\, God the powerful Word\, and God the li
fe-giving Spirit form the earth and all its inhabitants. God sees that all
this created work is good and then rests on the seventh day.\nPsalm: 8\nH
ow majestic is your name in all the earth! (Ps. 8:1)\nSecond Reading:  \n2
Corinthians 13:11-13 Paul closes a challenging letter to the Corinthians
with an appeal to Christian fellowship grounded in the triune harmony of C
 hrist’s grace\, God’s love\, and the Spirit’s partnership.\nGospel:  Matth
ew 28:16-20\nAfter his resurrection\, Jesus summons his remaining disciple
s and commissions them to baptize and teach all nations in the name of the
Father\, Son\, and Holy Spirit.\n16  Now the eleven disciples went to Gal
ilee\, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them.\n17  When they sa
w him\, they worshiped him\, but they doubted.\n18  And Jesus came and sai
d to them\, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.\n1
9  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations\, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit\n20  and teaching
them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember\, I am wi
th you always\, to the end of the age.”\n \nAfter the Sermon\, Holy Commun
ion will be offered. Come as you are\, the gift of the Table of the Lord h
as been prepared as Jesus has requested and now we are invited to the meal
. Come to the table like Peter\, with m ore enthusiasm than resolve and li
ke James and John\, disappointed and the priorities of God’s reign. Come t
o the table like Martha\, hosting and leading with confidence like Mary\,
full of love and grief. Come to the table like Judas\, disillusioned and r
ebellious and like Mary Magdalene\, faithful till the end. Come to the tab
le\, because it is God who invites us and it’s God’s will that those who w
ant to should meet God here.\nBlessing for the day (Our blessing is an ada
ptation of a Franciscan Prayer)\nMay God bless us with discomfort at a Eas
y answers\, half truths and superficial leaderships so that we may live ou
t God’s will deep in our heartland in our world.\nMay god bless with anger
at injustice\, oppression and exploration and the environments that we ma
y work for justice\, freedom and peace.\nMay God bless us with tears to sh
ed for those who suffer from pain\, rejection\, hunger and war so that we
may reach out with hands and hearts to help them\, walk with them and turn
their pain into hope and joy.\nAnd may God bless us with enough foolishne
ss to believe that we can make a difference in this world\, so that we can
do what others claim cannot be done. To bring justice\, peace\, hope and
love to all children\, the poor and all others in any need.\nGod be your c
omfort\, your strength\;\nGod be your hope and support\;\nGod be your ligh
t and your way\; and the blessing of God Creator\, Redeemer and Giver of L
ife\, remain with you now and forever. https://www.messiahofthemountains.o
